Tips for Being a More Organized Mom

Happy Thursday!

Being a mom and a wife is no easy task. I wanted to share with you guys a couple of helpful tips for becoming a better youJ.

  1. Plan events ahead of time; use Pinterest as your friend to create vision boards for upcoming events. If you celebrate holidays/birthdays it is never too early to start shopping and/or planning. I.e. if you know Christmas is going to be over your house this year. Start planning. If you know you attend several kids’ parties over the year. Create a gift bin in your home or garage to store gifts, so you are not running around last minute. If you make homemade gifts, create a realistic list of what you need to make and get to it!
  2. Sit down and take a moment to prioritize what is going on in your life right now and create goals for yourself i.e. weekly, monthly and/or yearly. Focus on completing what you have on this list before taking on additional responsibilities.
  3. Assign responsibilities to your family. Everyone should have a job. You might have everything written down on a piece of paper or decide to create a chalk board out of an old frame. The more important part is doing what works for you and your family, also never be afraid to ask for help from friends and family. I know we all want to be super mom.
  4. If you would like to reward your children for the chores your children complete, you could easily create your own method. For example, you could purchase play money from the dollar store and once your child completes their chores for the week they get paid, at the end of the month or every two weeks they are able to purchase items from the family store. This could mean purchasing a certificate to stay up late or get an extra serving of desert at dinner time. Another option could be having a day of off chores. The great part about this is you could set the pay rate and also control how much each prize is worth and what the actual prize is.
  5. As moms, we do not always have the time, however sometimes we just have to make the time. Take time out of your day to make sure everyone is okay and to see how their day went. Plan family game night once a week or once a month to have that devoted time for your family, date your husband. Once the children go to bed, poor a glass of wine for you and your spouse, sit and watch a movie or just look into each other’s eyes.

Do you have any tips for being a more organized mom?

Shrimp with Cream of Chicken Soup

Hello Everyone & Happy Friday!

I am always trying something new, when it comes to cooking dinner for my family. Some days, I really have no idea what to make. My husband and son, at times are really picky eaters. So when life throws you lemons you make lemonade right??? Well, that just happened with the meal below. I had no idea what to make for dinner, it was after soccer practice for me tween, and I looked at what I had and made it work. Yes, I was taking a huge risk, because they may not have liked it. But sometimes, you just have to believe in what you are making and always cook with love :). My family loved the recipe and raved about how yummy it was... Anywho, This was something I just whipped up, and wanted to share with you guys.

Happy Friday!

1 can Cream of Chicken soup

1 bag of pre-cooked shrimp- more of less to your liking (thawed)

1 bag of frozen veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, squash etc)

Dash of salt (or season to your liking)

Dash of garlic powder (or season to your liking)

Dash of onion powder (or season to your liking)

1 tablespoon butter

Place the pre-cooked shrimp on medium heat in a sauce pan, season with the seasonings above and butter. Once, all ingredients are combined (about 3-5 minutes) add can of Cream of Chicken soup and combine well. Add veggies and reduce heat to simmer and until veggies are cook (for 10-15 minutes) in a covered pan. Once veggies are cooked to your liking, serve in a bowl or pier with rice.

Girls Night In Soiree! (Planning)

I am always in a partying planning mood, I love coordinating events and seeing everything come together. My friends and family always ask when I'm going to have girls night or a cookout at my house. Well to my surprise Chrissy over at The Taylor House shared a fabulous"Favorite Things" themed party, This party gave me an ah-ha moment. So of course naturally, I went into party planning mood. I shared the idea with the Mr. and he said go for it, so I did! Immediately, I started a guest list with ten people that I would like to participate. I know most likely the color scheme will include Pink! Below are a few details of the event and how I plan on executing/ FAQ.

Number of Participants? 10
Favorite thing's? All (10) items have to be the same however, each item can be a different scent/color i.e. I love Revlon nail polish. However, I am going to bring a variety of my favorite colors.
What is the price range? The "favorite things" price range is $3-$5 dollars.
Full menu/Cocktail or desert party? Cocktail
Are the guest required to wrap the items? No, this is optional

Now for the visual!

Now I have to pick a date and send the invites out! I love the idea, I having a million dollar look for the fraction of the cost :).
